Show Box Score Stats columns depending on a Season

When a box score item is published, it is currently visible on all Seasons.

However items do not always apply to all Seasons, so it would be really helpful if Box Score Stats could be allocated to a Season in the same way Teams are allocated in the Season Administration settings.

If this option was available only relevant columns would be used in each Season.

Example

I have columns for Sets and Rink Positions that are not used in some seasons, used together in some seasons and separately in other seasons.

As agreed with Richard and our product team we have made new options for each box score record so it is superflexiblec7c7b5e121abe3648fb5517ac675d08c

Yeap.. it should be the same as player events.

There shouldn't be any options for relating box score to season. Player events also work the same way - there is no such option.

For player events it works like this: if there is no event added, it doesn't appear on front end. The same should work for Box score if I remember rightly. Richard, would you mind to provide links where it works the other way? I cannot quite understand on what page exactly it appears in case you didn't enter it.

Reading your example, Richard, i think you should create a different set of box score records for each case? I might be wrong but it sounds weird when you have the same ox score record appearing in different way for different seasons.

Maybe I did not explain clearly in my initial post, I will try again as 'declined' seems a bit premature.

I have a lot of box score stat items, placed under relevant headings - Rinks, Shots, Sets, Set1, Set 2, Tie-Break, Tactics, Good Play, Random.

I use the Box Score Stats for these items as a solution to default options not provided by JoomSport and currently not in the planned list (explained in other feedback items) and I need individual and overall totals as well as season totals for the majority of items, so using Player Events is NOT a suitable option.

I have Tournaments that use Groups with a Round Robin format. However some tournaments use shots to decide each match and other tournaments use 'Best of 3 Sets, 9 ends per set' to decide the match (not shots, but Sets Won). There are Tournaments that used shots in one season but changed the format to sets in later seasons.

I have Tournaments using Groups that have more than 1 player in a team in different positions (so the Rink Stats are used) and other tournaments using Groups that are for single player, so the Rinks Stats are not used.

Therefore I do not use all the stats for each Tournament/Season, but all columns appear, even if not used (see below).

These box scores appear here

These box scores appear here

Therefore my initial post was suggesting it would be very useful to either hide columns in the front end that are not used (output) or the ideal solution of allowing stats to be selected for each season from the Season admin area in the same way as Teams are selected, so only the Box Score Stats that are relevant for the Season actually appear for data input.

Note 1

JoomSport allows sets to be used for matches in Knockout tournaments, but not Round Robin tournaments and this is perhaps something to add to the 'future to do list'. I can get round it be using Sets as match stages combined with the Box Score Stats until then.

Note 2

Player Events are not suitable for this requirement as they are focused on the match, not a cumulative record of player/match statistics.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the explanations! We have discussed this with supporter. Not a final resolution but the idea "if there is no results for specific column, do not show this column inside this specific season" sounds very reasonable. This is how our events stats are working so think we can do similar feature for box score. I'll leave "collecting feedback" for this case for now.

Thank you, it sounds like a good solution to me, appreciated.

Update - I have columns that may be blank that still should be shown in the 'Rink Group', so a Yes/No option to show the column if blank would be an ideal solution for "if there is no results for specific column, do not show this column inside this specific season"

A suggestion - the custom work for public use i requested on box score that is nearly finished allows several Yes/No options for each item and it may be the easiest route to add a Yes/No option for 'Show column if blank' as virtually all the work is already done.

Richard, I don't really like the idea of additional option for this. the reason is very simple: our product is overloaded with loads of functionality and options. It becomes a nightmare for new customers starting in case when each screen has a lot of configuration so we are trying to find a balance between adding new options and often prefer to say "no" rather than develop a new one.

Would you be able to put "0" for such cases when you need specific column to display? 0 - is a value and it will give you a chance to display selected column.

No worries, I took a look at options and can get round it by a slight change in the column titles, so your original suggestion is perfectly fine and will work well.

Thank you! At least we came to one conclusion. Hopefully our developer approves this once it came to public development. Idea sounds quite reasonable
